Child Safety Standards
Last updated: March 7, 2026
1. Zero Tolerance Policy
Borgi has a zero tolerance policy for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) content. We are committed to preventing our app from being used to create, distribute, or access any material that exploits or harms children.
2. How Borgi Works
Borgi is a client application that connects to third-party Mastodon instances. We do not host, store, or moderate user-generated content. All content is hosted on and moderated by the Mastodon instances that users choose to connect to.
Each Mastodon instance has its own administrators and moderators who are responsible for enforcing their instance's rules, including rules against CSAE content. Most Mastodon instances explicitly prohibit CSAE material in their terms of service.
3. In-App Reporting
Borgi provides users with the ability to report content, including CSAE material, directly through the app using Mastodon's built-in reporting system. When a user submits a report:
- The report is sent to the moderators of the Mastodon instance where the content is hosted.
- Users can include additional context and select specific rule violations when filing a report.
- Reports can also be forwarded to the remote instance if the content originates from a different server.
We encourage all users to immediately report any CSAE content they encounter.
4. Content Filtering and Safety Controls
Borgi includes several features to help protect users from unwanted content:
- Content filters — Users can create keyword-based filters to hide or warn about specific content.
- Sensitive media controls — Users can choose to always hide media marked as sensitive, requiring an explicit tap to reveal.
- Blocking and muting — Users can block or mute accounts to prevent seeing their content.
5. Compliance with Child Safety Laws
Borgi complies with all applicable child safety laws and regulations. We are committed to:
- Cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies investigating CSAE.
- Responding promptly to valid legal requests related to child safety.
- Reporting known CSAE material to the appropriate authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) where applicable.
- Continuously reviewing and updating our practices to align with evolving child safety standards.
6. User Responsibilities
Users of Borgi must not use the app to create, share, solicit, or access CSAE content. Violation of this policy may result in:
- Immediate reporting to the relevant Mastodon instance moderators.
- Reporting to law enforcement authorities.
- Any other action required by applicable law.
